NWIOA Mission Statement:

The Northwest Indiana Operator Association (NWIOA) provides a venue for the members of the wastewater community in Northwest Indiana to network with their peers in the wastewater field. The NWIOA also provides industry professionals the opportunity to keep up to date with the current technologies and regulation while earning continuing education.

13th Annual Operator
Boot Camp
at Miami County Fairgrounds

Peru, IN

IRWA, in collaboration with the Indiana Section AWWA’s Small Systems and Education Committees, will host our thirteenth Operator Boot Camp on August 8, 2018 at the Miami County 4‐H Fairgrounds in Peru, Indiana.

We invite you to join us for this full day of demonstrations and exhibits highlighting the latest in products, equipment, technology, and services for both water and wastewater systems.

Contact hours will be awarded — 5 to 6 water and wastewater hours (pending IDEM approval); and, since the sessions will receive IDEM approval, they are also eligible for professional engineer PDHs.

Please dress for weather and construction site conditions. Also, feel free to bring your own folding chair to use during outdoor demonstrations.

Remember to bring your sunscreen and sunglasses, and maybe even an umbrella!!

Refreshments will be available throughout the day and a lunch buffet will be served.

August 15-17th 
Join the Indiana Water Environment Association for their Annual Conference held at The Westin in Indianapolis. This year the conference theme is Developing the Next Generation. We hope to explore how to build up the next generation of water professionals. Indiana Communities Receive Federal Funding for Water Projects

 The Indiana Department of Natural Resources Lake Michigan Coastal Program Seeks Grants Assistant to Join the Team. The LMCP provides technical and financial assistance to state, regional, and local partners to protect, preserve and utilize coastal resources. The program also helps coordinate state agency action on coastal management issues. Housed within the Indiana DNR’s Division of Nature Preserves, the Lake Michigan Coastal Program works to enhance the State’s role in planning for and managing natural and cultural resources in the coastal region and to support partnerships between federal, state and local agencies and organizations.    The Coastal Program Grants Assistant is responsible for performing administrative tasks, as well as reviewing grant project work products and materials pertaining to projects funded by the LMCP in the Lake Michigan Watershed.  Additionally, the Grants Assistant maintains up-to-date databases of project information and communicates with grantees and stakeholders about ongoing and upcoming projects.To accomplish this, the position works with the Grants Specialist on project data management, including: 

  • Revising and updating grant project outreach materials for LMCP funded projects
  • Catalog and synthesizing all previous Coastal Grant project work
  • Conducting on-site project inspections and review of active projects
  • Assisting in reporting project data and performance measures
